A worked example

See the deductions before you cut.

A useful answer is one you can follow. This example uses two NPS 6 Class 150 raised-face weld-neck flanges and a 24-inch sealing-face distance.

Check the fittings, gaps, and dimensions against the work in front of you.

Worked example · flange to flange

Sealing-face distance24 in
Fitting deductions3.5 in each
Weld gaps1/8 in each
Cut length16-3/4 in

24 − 3.5 − 3.5 − 0.125 − 0.125 = 16.75 inches
